AMIANTIT WINS NEW ORDERS FROM KSA, KUWAIT AND QATAR TOTALING SAR 117 MILLION Dammam, October 2006 –Amiantit, the global industrial group which is one of the world's biggest manufacturers of pipes and accessories for water services infrastructure projects and pipe systems for the oil gas and petrochemical industries, has recently received order from customers in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar amounting to a total of SAR 117 million. "Currently we have a massive amount of orders on our books due to the general economic prosperity that the Kingdom and its neighbours are enjoying, which is being reflected in a significant increase in regional infrastructure projects and industrial expansion programmes," said Eng. Fareed Al-Khalawi, Amiantit President & CEO. "As a result Amiantit is receiving a record number of contract awards and, moreover, these orders are being carried out by Amiantit manufacturing facilities in the Kingdom. It must be noted that these contracts do not include the very substantial number of orders in hand at other Amiantit Group companies around the globe. In summary, the Amiantit Group is having an excellent year all over the world." Among the regional orders Kuwait is the source of the biggest total amount, which is made up of two contract awards: one from the Kuwait Ministry of Housing, Electricity & Water to supply ductile iron pipes and fittings for the Saad Al-Abdullah Area housing project; and the other from the Kuwait Ministry of Water & Energy to supply ductile iron pipes and fittings for the Elevated Tower at the Azzour Water Distribution Complex in Lali Al Khiran. Both these orders are being carried out by Amiantit's Saudi Arabian Ductile Iron Pipes Company Limited (SADIP) in Dammam. These two contract awards are closely followed in total amount by three orders from Qatar, among which is an order to supply High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes for the New Doha International Airport Utility System project, which is a breakthrough contract award for Amiantit's thermoplastic manufacturing facility. Much of Amiantit's success can be attributed to its leadership in research, development and ownership of advanced manufacturing technologies, which has enabled the Group to diversify from its main activity of producing pipe systems for water infrastructure networks by developing materials and technologies to produce pipes suitable for the oil, gas and petrochemical industries. Supporting its pipe manufacturing activities, the Amiantit Group includes several leading international companies that are specialists in consultancy, engineering and construction of turn-key water infrastructure projects on a global scale. |
