AMIANTIT AWARDED US$ 25 MILLION TABUK-Saudi Arabia WATER TRANSMISSION PIPELINE CONTRACT Dammam, April 2006: Amiantit has been awarded a contract with a total value of US$ 25 million to supply concrete cylinder pipes (CCP) and fittings for the Tabouk pipeline project which is planned to transmit treated water from a well field 82 km north of Tabuk city. The contract was signed on Tuesday by HRH Prince Fahad Bin Sultan Bin AbdulAziz, Governor of Tabouk Region. The advantages of Amiantit CCP pipes are that they are environment friendly, economical, have high bearing capacity and can be produced to customer-specified design. At source there will be about 36 wells from which the raw water will be transmitted through collector pipelines to a nearby water treatment plant. A pumping station will then forward the treated water through separate pipelines to Tabuk city and Al Sharaf town, From Al Sharaf the treated water will be transmitted onwards to Haqal, Duba, Al-Wajh and Amluj towns on the Western coast. During phase one of the project, which runs up to the year 2020, water demand for Tabuk city is estimated at 130,000 cubic meters a day, increasing to 244,000 cubic meters a day during phase two which ends in 2030. The project is planned to exceed demand by supplying 283,000 cubic metres a day up to the end of phase one. By the end of phase two, the total water supplied to Tabuk and Al Sharaf will amount to 360,000 cubic meters a day. The pipeline installation contract worth a total of US$ 6.6 million has been awarded to Bin Jarallah. Completion time for the project is 36 Hegira months. |
