AMIANTIT WINS SAR 80 MILLION CONTRACTS FOR WATER PROJECTS IN ABU DHABI AND AL AIN

Ductile iron pipes will be manufactured at SADIP factory in Dammam

Jeddah May 2004 - In the face of tough competition from two other world-class factories, Saudi Arabian Amiantit Company has won contracts with a total value of SAR 80 million for water projects in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

Over a four month period Amiantit will supply the projects with ductile iron pipes with diameters ranging from 80 millimeters to 700 millimeters. The pipes will be manufactured by SADIP, an Amiantit Group company, at its Dammam factory which is biggest of its kind in the Middle East and produces more than 150,000 tons of ductile iron every year. Approximately 40% of its production is exported to the GCC, Turkey and other countries.

The award of the Abu Dhabi and Al Ain contracts is an indication of the high international regard for Amiantit's quality products, which include fiberglass pipes, concrete pipes, polyethylene pipes, insulation and rubber products. Amiantit's position as the pipe manufacturing industry leader is the result of 40 years of experience and the world-class technologies that Amiantit owns and markets worldwide. In spite of recent difficulties, such as the rising cost of iron ore and other raw materials, and the emergence of new competitors in the market, the Company continues to win contracts on the scale of the Abu Dhabi and Al Ain water projects, thanks to customer confidence in the quality and reliability of its products and the technical support that Amiantit provides.
