SAUDI ARABIAN AMIANTIT LEADS CONSORTIUM THAT HAS WON OVER SAR 187 MILLION WATER MANAGEMENT-CONTRACT IN ROMANIA Zetea project will supply high quality potable water to 200,000 people Dammam, News Item – Saudi Arabian Amiantit is the leader of a consortium that has won the international tender for a water management project in Romania worth over SAR 180 million ($ 50 million). This project will be financed by a number of international institutions. The Zetea water supply system is the first public and private participation Design, Building, Operation, and Transfer (DBOT) infrastructure project of its kind in Romania and consists of water intake from an existing 14 million cubic meters lake, a water treatment plant, a 137-kilometer pipeline, and connections to the distribution tanks. The system will supply high quality potable water to more than 200,000 people. Project implementation will start in the spring of 2004 and the water supply system is expected to be completed within three years. Amiantit already has ductile iron pipe manufacturing facilities in Romania, where the company produces its own raw material. “This is one of a number of recent contract wins by Amiantit for water management projects in various countries round the world.” said Eng.
